Dear MM,

You write that no Democrats have condemned the attacks on people and property by antifa or the shooting that gravely wounded Rep. Scalise (R-Louisiana). These charges are not true:

  1. To take just one example of the Democrats’ response to the shooting that wounded Scalise, Sen. Bernie Sanders sent his “thoughts and prayers” to Rep. Scalise and issued a statement that said in part: “I am sickened by this despicable act. Let me be as clear as I can be. Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society, and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms.” This was covered by the Los Angeles Times and other media.
  2. Nancy Pelosi, minority leader of the House of Representatives, strongly condemned intifa attacks. Her statement was carried by various media outlets, including the Washington Post: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/08/30/pelosi-condemns-violent-actions-of-antifa-protesters/?utm_term=.3bfdb3c0ec11

As to your argument that violent attacks against the media do not interfere with freedom of the press, I do not know where to begin.
